Responsible Minerals Sourcing

At Silicon Valley Microelectronics (SVM), we are committed to ethical business practices and responsible sourcing throughout our global supply chain. As the world’s largest distributor of silicon wafers and wafer services, we understand the importance of ensuring that our products do not contribute to human rights abuses, environmental harm, or armed conflict.

Our Commitment

SVM fully supports the objectives of Section 1502 of the U.S. Dodd-Frank Act and the initiatives of the Responsible Minerals Initiative (RMI). While we do not directly manufacture wafers, some finished products we provide may include metallic films or depositions that contain tantalum or gold—minerals that are considered high-risk for conflict financing.

We are committed to:

  • Avoiding the use of conflict minerals that directly or indirectly finance armed groups in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) or adjoining countries.
  • Promoting the use of conflict-free smelters and refiners validated by industry standards such as the Responsible Minerals Assurance Process (RMAP).
  • Working collaboratively with suppliers to improve supply chain transparency and ethical sourcing practices.

Supplier Expectations

We require our suppliers and manufacturing partners to:

  • Conduct due diligence on the origin and chain of custody of 3TG minerals (tantalum, tin, tungsten, and gold) in accordance with OECD guidance.
  • Submit a current Conflict Minerals Reporting Template (CMRT) upon request.
  • Source minerals from conflict-free smelters whenever possible.
  • Inform us of any changes to sourcing practices that could affect compliance.

Ongoing Responsibility

SVM continuously evaluates our sourcing practices and maintains open communication with our partners to ensure adherence to responsible sourcing principles. We may reevaluate business relationships with suppliers who do not meet our standards.

Transparency & Accountability

This policy is publicly available as part of our commitment to transparency. We will update it as necessary to reflect changes in regulations, industry best practices, or our own evolving ethical standards.
