SVM supplies a large variety of glass wafer materials for the Semiconductor, Biotechnology, and Solar Industry. Some of the more common glass families are below. If you require a different material, please contact us.
Popular Glass Materials:
1. Eagle XG: This glass material is created without many of the harmful chemicals traditionally found in electronic/computer components. High chemical resistance, low density, and pristine clarity are all distinguishing characteristics of this material.
Key Elements of Eagle XG:
- Low density
- Excellent clarity
- High chemical resistance
2. Borofloat: One of the most popular brands for glass wafer fabrication is floating borosilicate glass.
Key Elements of Borofloat:
- Durability when exposed to corrosive chemicals and gasses. more than most metals and other glass substrates.
- Great mechanical strength and resistance to abrasives.
- Transparency- high ultraviolet (UV) transmission
- High Chemical resistance
- Excellent flatness
- Thermal expansion same as silicon
3. D 263 T: A clear borosilicate glass that has a high chemical resistance and is produced by a SCHOTT specific down-draw method. It is available in a variety of thicknesses ranging from 0.03 mm to 1.1 mm.
Key Elements of D 263 T:
- Stable against sunlight and heat
- Not permeable to humidity
- Flexibility is similar to that of plastic
- Easy to cut by laser or scribe and break method
- Excellent resistance to chemicals.
4. Fused Quartz/Fused Silica: Quartz material is exceptionally pure and has an impressively high melting point. Fused silica wafers – also known as fused quartz wafers – are often considered ideal for use in semiconductor components.
Key Elements of Quartz/Fused Silica:
- Ultraviolet transparency – Excellent optical transmission at a wide range of wavelengths, from ultraviolet to infrared. It also transmits ultraviolet rays better than other glass.
- Extreme hardness
- High chemical purity
- Excellent resistance to chemicals.
- Large operating temperature range and resilient to thermal shock due to low thermal expansion
- Excellent electrical insulation properties
- Low refractive index.
5. Borosilicate: Widely known as one of the most affordable glass fabrication materials, borosilicate glass. A variety of borosilicate brands are available.
Key Elements of Borosilicate:
- Borosilicate glass exhibits a higher chemical stability against water, many chemicals and pharmaceutical products
- Very Resilient to high temperatures fluctuations
- Good transparency
- Excellent mechanical strength.
6. Soda Lime Glass One of the most common types of glass wafer. Commonly used in electronic applications, microslides and mirrors.
Key Elements of Soda Lime:
- Low Cost
- Excellent at reflecting Infrared and transmitting visible light
- Can be chemically strengthened to harden the surface to be scratch and break resistant.
